2008 has started off with a bang. I have two new publishers, Total-e-bound and Freya's Bower. Total-e-bound contracted my newest book written for 2008, entitled Fantasies Unlashed (contemporary erotic romance). It is a story of a woman craving to experience something new. A sexually adventure she’s never done, but will finally find it within herself to try. This story will be more than just sex (though it will come with a highly sexual rating for TEB), I wanted emotional depth to play an important role, also. To clarify things – does Skylar do cover art?
I have over 7 years (more like 8) in experience using Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. Creating artwork comes naturally to me. I have been doing it as long as I have been riding horses (that has been since I was a little girl by the way) though back then, I only had Crayons to draw with.
In the next couple of months, I will be opening a separate site for my cover designs called Romance Covers http://www.romancecovers.com/.

I find the challenge of capturing the author’s dream cover exhilarating. Seeing their emails expressing their excitement over the cover I created cannot be put into mere words.
My specialty you might wonder? I can hand paint hair, eye color and backgrounds into readymade photos. This has taken me years to develop, and all those long hours were worth it. If you think it is easy, open up Photoshop CS3. If you have never done it and have almost hundreds of dollars to spare, do. Then be prepared to say HOLY SH*T when you do open up said program. I did when I first opened up PSP 3 or maybe it was 4 back then. The program boggled my mind. I reopened Photoshop a good month later and never looked back. If you love it do it! Whatever that may be.
In this mockup cover I did for Bareback Angels, the two men I have added hair and eye color too. The backgrounds (yes there is more than one background in this cover), I have hand drawn. The lettering (font) is created using the style key in Photoshop. You can buy styles or create your own (think macro and save a string of commands into a one-touch key stroke).

Babes in Toyland II receives Rogues & Romance Must Read Award!
This is my third straight Recommended Read award this month! Babes in Toyland II (Christmas anthology) from Aspen Mountain Press receives the Rogues & Romance Must Read award!
Babes in Toyland II really blew me away with it’s fun, smart, sexy, and imaginative stories. Every single one of those stories were ones I enjoyed reading immensely, and the folks at Aspen Mountain should get a big round of applause for choosing the perfect blend of fantastic stories for this anthology. Not only did I find Babes in Toyland II a definite keeper, but I found a ton of new authors that I loved. This is one I will certainly be reading again- at Christmas and all throughout the year.

Skylar's book buying frenzy this week
I am home this week recouping from oral surgery (can we say yikes!). I have gone months without diving into some of my favorite foods, and goodness do I like to eat.
Anyway, I have been on this book buying kick the last couple of days. Whose books did Skylar buy?
I started off by buying Lady of Light and Shadows by C. L. Wilson. This author has penned a completely unique and magical realm for her characters. I just started this book, so I will tell you more as I get to know the characters more intimately. Believe it or not, I found this book at my local Walgreens, and I bought the last copy too :)
Yesterday I purchased The Cheater’s Guide To Writing Erotic Romance by Morgan Hawke from Mojocastle Press. I have to say this sharp-minded and plain talking author has my creative juices flowing again. If you are an author just starting out (this isn’t just for erotic authors either) or one like me that already has published works, it never hurts to learn the secrets and tips by the masters like Morgan Hawke. How the heck do you think I have best selling books?...I take classes and read books regularly.
Today I purchased The Red Storm by Zinnia Hope. You can get a copy at Lavender Isis Press. I haven’t started it as of yet, but Zinnia’s voice is soft and sensual, and one that is all her own, that much I do know.

Skylar's cover wins an Ariana at EPIC!
I am very pleased and humbled to announce that my cover art I designed for Extraordinary Love has won in the fantasy, sci-fi, futuristic, and paranormal erotic romance category at EPIC!
This cover now goes on to compete with the other 11 covers to decide the best of the best known as the Quasar, starting January 15 to January 30, 2008.
Side note: Sadly this book was released by Mardi Gras Publishing, which most know the history of that publisher. Extraordinary Love will be coming back out next year, revised and even better! I am glad that this cover won despite the the odds faced when Mardi Gras Publishing suddenly closed it doors and left many authors without homes for their books. This cover was a labor of love, as well as the story it holds.

That Sin in Sinclair really comes out in this book. This was the most descriptive book I’ve read in a while. Skylar takes not only her characters but you the reader for one wild ride. It seems Loren has seen all kinds at her job as a cocktail waitress for a paranormal bar called Freaks. Then a tall, dark, and dangerous stranger makes her rethink that. He makes her wet with a glance and her scream for more than that before the nights over. She won’t be able to get him out of her head and… Damn it… neither can I. This is a definite recommended read. Five Delightful Divas hands down.

It was hard to tell what she looked like, with her long blond hair wildly arranged around her tiny face, a face that was almost as white as the sheet that covered her. By her head was the helmet she had worn, thank goodness. It was a mess. The face shield was completely torn away and there were deep scratches and missing paint from most of its left side. Even the chinstrap was missing. She had definitely taken a nasty spill. Christopher's soft heart went out to the injured young lady. He hated to see anyone suffer, but now he had a job to do. Time to get to it.
As they started working on her, Christopher heard Janice chuckle quietly. With his head still down, he just had to find out what tickled her. "Okay Janice, what tickled your funny bone?"
Janice pointed to the medical chart she had started on the young lady. "You are never going to believe what her name is. It is just too precious." A genuine smile lit up her face as she waited to see if Christopher would bite.
"Haven't a clue. What is it, pray tell?"
"Candi Kane. Get it? We are in the month of December with Christmas just around the corner, and we have a patient with the name of Candi Kane. How coincidental is that and with you being Doctor Chris Kringle?"
Yeah, how coincidental was that when you are the son of freaking Santa Claus. Christopher mentally rolled his eyes. "Yeah, that is wild, Janice," he replied never missing a beat.

When Loren gets her first look at this mysterious man that oozes sex, all she can think about is hot and nasty. He makes her body sing. All Loren knows is that she needs some of him and soon. Will this be Loren's downfall, or the night of her dreams?
This story started off with a bang, I flew through the short amount of pages there was and wanted more. These two characters blew me away with the heat between the two and how perfect they are for each other. I sure hope that Ms. Sinclair writes another story with these characters, I can't wait to read what she writes next.

Especially since she has the perfect natural costume - herself half human and half panther. No one will ever guess that her costume is anything more than a tight fitting, furry bodysuit.
Roarke and Panteara meet at the bar and realize that they could be mates. This causes different reactions in each of them. This night of passion and discovery is going to change their lives forever and it will be revealing what the morning will bring for them. A pair of newly mated mates or are they really?
A sensual feeling in Purr for Me goes from the first page to the last. I could feel Roarke and Panteara coming to terms with their passion and becoming mates. Sensuality combines with great sex to help tell their story of discovery and acceptance. At the end of the story I have to say that Ms. Sinclair got me good. When I turned the last page that is exactly what I thought. In disbelief I quickly reread the story and even knowing the ending I had the same reaction. Purr for Me is a wonderful sexy and sensual story with a truly surprise ending. I Joyfully Recommend this to anyone who enjoys either paranormals or Halloween stories as a keeper.
